Welcome! Our education program is intended to provide our members with up to date information on equipment and training for those of us new to working in Columbus. Our program works hand in hand with many of our established employers to ensure that what is taught is relevant to today's technology.

As a reminder, we have available in our office a number of training videos that are available for viewing.

 

Valid certifications will be required for placement on all IATSE Local 12 referrals using this equipment. 

Forklift Driver Certification: TBA expect the next round of this class to be opened to nonmembers for a fee. This class will be scheduled for mid December and January.

Aerial Platform Endorsement: This is a supplemental certification and has the prerequisite of a valid Forklift Driver Certification ticket. Class will be held on November 7th & 8th with pre registration at the Union Hall. Location will be given upon signing up for the class. 

If you already have a current certificate from another source, this will need to be presented to the training committee for determine if it will be accepted. 

 

The following classes are required for nonmembers to advance on our referral list. Consideration for job placement will given to those who have successfully completed these courses.

 

Sound : This class is currently under development and will be available to nonmembers for a fee. This class will cover operational knowledge for installation of stage and industrial sound work. There will be multiple class sessions with locations varying depending upon the requirements of the subject material. Classes are expected to start in December. 
Stage Lighting: This class is currently under development and will be available to nonmembers for a fee. This class is based on required working knowledge for stage and industrial lighting installations. Expect multiple class sessions with locations varying upon requirements of subject material. Classes are tentatively scheduled to start in December. 
Audio Visual: This class is currently under development and will be available to nonmembers for a fee. This class is based on required working knowledge for audio visual installations. Expect multiple class sessions with locations varying upon requirements of subject material. Classes are tentatively scheduled to start in December. 
Expect to see more classes posted here to be available as they are developed.  Please refer to this site for class dates and times.

 

Most CAPA Theatres run the Obsession Light Board.
